Embarking on a musical journey is Samyak Jain, A Delhi/New York-based singer-songwriter who debuted his first single, Zindagi — an acoustic heartfelt tune that explores the themes of self-acceptance and the inevitability of change. The self-taught artist reveals the core of his music to be based on accoustic and percussive guitar and warm, raw vocals. His music takes inspiration from indie-folk and soft rock.

Collaborating with Ikprabh, a Kolkata based filmmaker, the music video paints a picture of childhood nostalgia and otherworldly magic. A Master of Design student, Ikprabh finds himself fascinated with the exploration of film across mediums, narrative and story formats, leaning towards a surreal form of art.

“The concept of the music video tries to convey the aforementioned themes through the life of a child,” Ikprabh explains. “He’s unbothered and unaware of the life that he lives — a life of monotony. The visual language of the film attempts to create that sense of a fictional world for the viewer - with instances that don’t belong to the current period of time that we live in.

Until the monotony breaks. The television turns on. The protagonist can’t help but realise what’s out there. He sees the world as he’d like to. He acknowledges the fact that change, escape, or anything else one might like to call it, is simple. Catharsis is simple. He walks out of the door.”
