After carving out a space in Delhi’s independent music scene with a string of striking releases — from the razor-sharp collaborations 'Ghabrahaat Intensifies' and 'Bagi Munda' with MC Amrit to her emotive debut EP 'Tere Liye' — vocalist and songwriter Tanmaya Kapoor returns with her most ambitious work and sophomore project 'Girls With Debilitated Moons'.
A classically trained pianist and a contemporary-trained vocalist, Tanmaya is unafraid to bend her technical mastery into unpredictable shapes. Her work echoes influences like Beyoncé, Florence Welch, Sunidhi Chauhan, FKA twigs, and Big Thief On stage and she aims to turn performance into both a form of self expression and a point of connection: “I want to be worshipped, feared, desired, underestimated — but most of all, related to.”
Written, composed, and performed by Tanmaya alongside producer Fatboi Raccoon, 'Scorpio Moon', the first release from the EP pulls at the seams of rock, pop, and alternative experimentalism, layering intricate production with a voice that shape-shifts effortlessly — tender one moment, tempestuous the next. Lyrically, it unfolds as a study in self-discovery, draped in metaphor and open to interpretation. Tanmaya describes it as “More than a song… a feeling, poetry, everything that I am.”
The track draws on astrological symbolism, centering on the idea of a 'debilitated' moon in Scorpio — an alignment often associated with heightened emotional sensitivity, deep creativity, and a tendency to feel everything with piercing intensity. In Tanmaya’s hands, it becomes a vessel for themes of lost opportunities, emotional turbulence, heartache, and the endless quest to find one’s own reflection in the chaos.
'when the sun doesn’t shine' opens with warm harmonies and soft-pop tenderness, while Sag Similarities (Bas Has) drifts into a dreamy, groove-driven escape that masks resignation beneath its sway. The mood darkens on Virgo Storm, where jagged edges of sound mirror its themes of confrontation and heartbreak.
Across 4 tracks, the EP emerges as a moody, introspective body of work exploring self-worth, healing, and the resilience of femininity. Here, debilitated moons are both literal and metaphorical, representing those who feel emotionally vulnerable or out of step with the world, yet refuse to be defined by that fragility.
