A song about love being like an oscillating pendulum, Weatherman explores the different shades of human relationships. Following the journey of a girl who is constrained by a cycle of choices in love; drawing parallels between our tendency of feeling extreme emotions and nature’s displays of drastic constrast through the weather.
Hailing from a South Indian family Perp is the moniker of Bombay-based singer and songwriter Urmila Sivadas. Music came early into her life as she started learning Carnatic music at the age of 6. Perp aims to create music that, above all else, feels good an is a journey through the realms of Jazz, soul and funk music.
Weatherman marks her first collaboration with Mumbai born and bred singer-songwriter Tiana. Her music is a culmination of different genres including Jazz, R&B, neo-soul and pop. She also frequently performs at live gigs in venues across Mumbai. The two are best friends before fellow musicians. They relate to one another on a spiritual level and often find themselves in similar situations when it comes to matters of the heart.
On one fine, moody & a rather ‘PMS'ey’ afternoon they wrote 'Weatherman' and decided they needed a producer to not only bring their song to life but also be understanding and sensitive to the matters of their heart. “In comes the perfect man. Someone who listened, let you finish your sentences, cooked but most importantly played the guitar like he damn well meant it.”
The girls found Mumbai-based multi-genre musician Varun Agnihotri and the rest is history. As for the artist himself, in 2015 Varun attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he was exposed to various musical styles and genres. His current music is heavily inspired by artists such as John Mayer, Tom Misch, Jordan Rakei, Bruno Major and Honne, to name a few.
It was the most seamless & ‘DIY’ collaboration between people who connected purely because of their passion to create something vibrant and new. The track will be releasing on the 27th of January via both Youtube and SoundCloud.
