Independent musician Ritviz has returned with 'DHA', the first single from his forthcoming album 'Kurta Saree', slated for release in 2026. True to his long-standing practice of merging Indian traditions with global sounds, 'DHA' takes its pulse from the tabla — a sound deeply familiar to him from childhood mornings filled with his mother’s singing and his father’s playing it. From that elemental rhythm, the track expands into a layered composition drawing on club, synth-pop, EDM, bass house, and UK garage.
Lyrically, 'DHA' orbits around longing and return, evoking the ache of absence while holding space for reunion. This dual sense of distance and belonging sets the thematic groundwork for 'Kurta Saree', a record that examines how memory, heritage, and contemporary culture can be folded into one another. Ritviz frames the project as a homecoming of sorts — after years of crafting music in solitude, he now steps forward with a vision that reimagines the sounds of his upbringing in an entirely new form.
The album’s visual language, created by AI artist Prateek Arora, extends this dialogue between the old and the new. The central figure — dressed in a kurta and sneakers, with a saree tied like a cape becomes a theatrical emblem of modern Indian identity. For Prateek, the imagery symbolizes Ritviz at a reflective juncture, looking back on what has shaped him while imagining what lies ahead.
Since his breakout hit 'Udd Gaye' in 2017, Ritviz has remained one of India’s most distinctive independent voices, weaving classical motifs into a global electronic soundscape. Projects like 'Baaraat' (with Nucleya, 2021), 'Mimmi' (2022), and 'Mehrbaan' (with Hasan Raheem, 2024) have showcased his ability to shift registers while staying true to his sonic identity.
With Kurta Saree, Ritviz seems poised to expand beyond music into performance and fashion, presenting the album but a cultural statement. If 'DHA' is any indication, this next chapter will deepen his ongoing exploration of duality between sound and spectacle, and self and stage.
