Attend Floating Canvas's Artist-In-Residence For A Unique Experience With Maharashtra Tourism

Meghna Mathew

Artistry of any form is achieved through various means –– but a struggle that remains constant is to continue finding inspiration, and sometimes even motivation to create. Often times, all creatives require a sort of recharge to be able to realise their truest, fullest potential and purpose.

The Maharashtra Tourism Department Corporation’s 28 properties across the state make for perfect spots to take time off from the bustle and intensity of daily routines. Their in-house amenities and hospitality allow for travellers and vacationers to truly unwind –– something artists could use too! And so, along with MTDC as their Residency Partners, Floating Canvas Company will give life to the Artist-In-Residence Programme.

“The residency becomes a medium through which we can go right to the grassroots level and try to promote those artists. Since each residency is highly dependent on the location, we can open up to the local art forms that exist,” says Aagam Mehta from Floating Canvas.

This is a first for a government body to be involved in, and support Indian artists. With wholehearted gratitude, Floating Canvas is able to create an opportunity that will not only teach, but allow the residents to truly experience and imbibe unique location-based learnings.

“It is really refreshing to see the Government department open their doors to the artist community of India. No other tourism department has stepped forward to do this, until now,” says Aagam.

For its first edition, the programme will host illustrator Anand Radhakrishnan and graffiti artist Zake. With workshops in place, the artists will have the opportunity to interact with each other in hopes to inspire and be inspired.

This edition also includes a weekend graffiti workshop with Zake. Visit here to book your slot.
