This Cosy Cottage In Manali Makes For An Idyllic Winter Escape

Cara Shrivastava

We’ve all heard of Snow White and her seven dwarf friends prancing about in a cottage, happy far, far away from the rest of civilization. Think apple orchards, chirping birds, lush forests, and of course, a cosy cottage with a roaring bonfire to keep you warm. Mumbai’s nights may have gotten a little chilly but it obviously pales in comparison to the glorious white peaks of the Himalayas. If you’re looking for a white Christmas this year, boy oh boy, do we have a place for you! Right up amongst the hills in Old Manali is a luxurious wooden cottage fitted out with all the amenities one would need (including Wi-Fi).

While this spot makes for an ideal family vacation, the cottage also makes for quite the romantic getaway. For those who’d like to get away from the city life and just unwind, the cottage has several board games, books and comics to keep you occupied. Plus, with dedicated staff and an in-house food menu, you’ll never have to venture too far—unless of course you want to. In fact, if you’re more of an adventurous soul, the hosts can organise a trek or tour specifically for you!

Although the cottage is located further away from the main tourist attractions, they’re merely a scooty ride away. If you’re still hesitant, trust us when we say one look at the view from this little lodge will put any doubt in your mind to rest. Breakfast is also included in your nightly fare—which comes to around INR 2,700. Huddling up into a blanket burrito while sipping on some steaming hot chai, sounds like an ideal way to end this year, after all.
