A Part-Indian, Part-Swedish Driver Just Became The Youngest Winner in Formula 2 History

On a warm Saudi evening during the Formula 2 sprint race, Arvid Lindblad, at the age of 16, became the youngest race winner in Formula 2, marking a defining moment in his career. For the motorsport world, it was a record breaking moment. But for Arvid and his family, it was the result of years of quiet persistence and steady ambition.

Born in London to a Swedish father, Stefan Lindblad, and an Indian mother, Anita Ahuja, Arvid’s earliest exposure to racing came not from legacy F1 names, but from his father’s brief stint in motocross. What began as casual weekend outings to karting circuits evolved into a committed pursuit. His dad doubled up as his mechanic, and weekends often meant family gatherings at tracks, with his maternal grandparents cheering from the sidelines. “During those days, I remember my Nani would sometimes come to the track with homemade Indian food like chapatis, rajma, chicken curry and aloo ghobi,” Arvid tells Man’s World. “It became a family weekend out.”

He was barely six when he began competing in karting’s youngest category, the Bambino class. Swift on the track and focused from the start, Arvid swiftly made a name for himself. By 13, he was signed by the Red Bull Junior Team, an early stamp of promise that set him on the path to single-seaters. His karting accolades include wins at the WSK Super Master Series and WSK Final Cup, followed by a rapid ascent through Italian F4 and Euro 4 championships.

In 2023, he impressed in Formula 3 with four wins and a fourth-place finish overall, earning his F2 call-up with Campos Racing for the 2025 season. He then went on to dominate the Formula Regional Oceania Championship in New Zealand, clinching his Super License.

His recent win in Jeddah is a milestone early in what promises to be a long and demanding journey. But for now, it stands as a moment of recognition — for the years of work behind the scenes, and the people who helped him get there.
