A Homegrown Label Artistically Combining Naga Textiles & Contemporary Design

Meghna Mathew

Bringing in contemporary styles in surrounding spaces is always something you look forward to. The methodical thinking that goes behind this sense of style is no less than calm, yet somehow still exciting. Whether it be furniture, upholstery, or even curtains, this modern take on decor is wondrous.

Taking this one step further, and elevating it to unexpected standards is Heirloom Naga. The homegrown brand reimagines Naga textiles and seamlessly integrates them with contemporary design. What began with just one weaver back in 1993, has come a long way with their presence outside the state of Nagaland. With their distinct cultural identity made visible through their patterns and textiles, Heirloom Naga does a fantastic job of meeting lifestyle products halfway, allowing them to own their own uniqueness.

Their commendable effort of encouraging local artisans and home-based women allows for them to show off their impeccable weaving skills. This has also provided them with a steady income and also an incentive to pass on the art and techniques to the next generation.

Their textile, jewellery, and home decor products are all impressive, and would proudly take up space in any household.
