Stay Indoors & Stream Exclusive Digital World Premieres Of These 5 Indian Movies

With the start of the Coronavirus outbreak, theatres and other movie outlets have been forced to remain shut. However, some major OTT platforms like Prime Video, Netflix and Disney+Hotstar have taken it upon themselves to acquire release rights for highly awaited movies. In a recent press release, Amazon announced that it is planning exclusive world premieres of many Bollywood and regional language movies in the coming months. Here’s a look at five movies that are slated to premiere exclusively on the digital platform.

I. Shakuntala Devi

The movie is based on the life of Indian Mathematics genius Shakuntala Devi. She has been nicknamed ‘Human Computer’ because of her extraordinary talent and skill in solving complex mathematical problems without any mechanical aid. She lived life on her terms and conquered the world through her numbers.

Directed by Anu Menon, the film features Vidya Balan as Shakuntala Devi. Watch the trailer here.

II. Gulabo Sitabo

Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo shows Amitabh Bachchan donning an almost unrecognisable garb as he stars alongside Ayushmann Khurrana. The story revolves around the hilarious tussle between a landlord and his squatting tenant, all the while tackling different twists and turns. With the beauty of the historical Lucknow architecture in the background, the film explores the hilarious tale of Gulabo and Sitabo. Read the full review here.

III. Ponmagal Vandhal

Ponmagal Vandhal is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language legal drama film written and directed by J. J. Fredrick in his debut, and produced by Suriya. The film stars Jyothika and R. Parthiban. Watch the trailer here.

It is scheduled to premiere digitally on 29 May 2020 on Prime Video.

IV. French Biryani

French Biryani is a Kannada film about the three-day journey of a French expatriate and an auto driver from Shivajinagar. Danish Sait plays the role of the auto driver while Sal Yusuf is the French expat. Produced by PRK Productions, this film will be one of the first from Puneeth Rajkumar’s banner to hit the OTT platform. You may read the entire report here.

V. Sufiyum Sujathayum

Sufiyum Sujathayum is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language film written directed by Naranipuzha Shanavas and produced by Vijay Babu under his banner Friday Film House. The film stars Jayasurya and Aditi Rao Hydari.

The film will premiere exclusively on Prime Video.
