Mumbai isn’t one of those places that let’s you laze around (although you can if you try hard enough). There’s always someone to meet, some place to be, something new to experience. The hustle is truly endless and new, exciting things are always cropping up in some of the most unexpected places.
So for those of you looking for something different to do this weekend, there’s a new pop-up in town and it’s looking quite interesting. Bringing together the best of art, food, and fashion is The Vintage Garden’s upcoming pop-up called ‘Stop And Smell The Roses’. And before you begin to make assumptions about the curious name, let me tell you that the setting of this pop-up is unlike anything else you might have experienced before. For the course of 10 days beginning 8th February 2018, The Vintage Garden will transform from a beautiful exhibit space to an even more mesmerising garden adorned with roses made out of sustainable material!
Amidst this one-of-a-kind setting that’s both mesmerising and responsible is a chance to just sit back and relax, sip on a lovely floral-based cocktail, chat over a warm cup of tea, and simply take a walk to your heart’s content. Expect a whole range of labels and brands to shop from including Baro, The Cobalt Company, Bombay Perfumery, Nici and Lajja etc. So if you have any kind of gift-shopping to do, this is your place to be.
Moreover, Stop And Smell The Roses is also The Vintage Garden’s effort to make the pop-up more inclusive than just a place where people socialise and buy things. The idea of starting conversations and engaging in dialogue is at the core of the event. The Cobalt Company will be conducting a Cyanotype Workshop where you can learn a 177-year-old photographic printing process that uses sunlight or UV rays to produce blue coloured print on paper painted with light sensitive dye. There’ll also be a workshop on Shadow Play and other traditional forms of storytelling that are now close to disappearing. Additionally, you can look forward to a unique cooking session on integrating indigenous flowers into your food!
Other events include a book reading and sitar recital with Namita Devidayal, fashion stylist Anaita Shroff sharing her expertise on style, and a film screening by Nikhil Advani. All the events will spread out over the course of 10 days so if you’ve already got plans this weekend, maybe try the next one?
