India’s history of carpet weaving stretches back centuries, deeply entwined with culture, and community. Our spaces deserve pieces that aren’t picked off the shelf in a hurry but are instead born out of patience, skill, and care. Founded in 2024, Majja champions the women of the Labbai and Rowther communities in Pathamadai village, Tamil Nadu. Once a craft dominated by men, mat weaving is now largely practiced by women. Their current collection, 'Break the Pattern', is founder Mohana’s way of challenging traditional ideas of what a woven mat should look like. Made from korai grass in shades of black and beige, these mats feature unconventional designs that are sure to brighten up any home.
