Since it started, photography has evolved massively as a medium. It's no longer just saving moments to freeze memories in time but it has developed a depth that encapsulates intangible worlds and portrays much more than the eyes can see. Visual artist have begun to indulge in the culture, and emotion of human life that stretches far beyond experience and into the individualized interpretation of experience. While words have their own way of telling a story, series of images create a portal into the mind of the artist and the way they perceive the world, bringing a larger dimensionality to an idea.
So we have curated below a list of some photo series on our radar that explore concepts and messages hidden in the fabric of existence.
Surya Namman
This series is by the Mumbai-based visual artist Rishabh called Suryaa Naman. This picture is a documentation of the emotions you feel after wearing this color, experiencing your divine self. The half circle moon is a representation of a divine aura while the saffron represents the positive energy that the woman is carrying around in this picture. Rishabh also painted the wall behind her for this project to represent the raw combination for the images captured.

Kulasai
In this series, Arunkumar Marimuthu, a photographer from Perambalur, Tamilnadu captures the wild festival of Kulasai Dasara in the village of Kulasekarapattinam in Tamil Nadu. The images capture the devotees dressed as goddess Kali, Lord Shiva, gypsy hunters, monkeys, beggars, kings and local gods like Chudalamadan, Kariyilamadan, Changalamadan, Asuran etc walking towards the temple on the 10th day of Navratri.

Winter Mood
Imdad Barbhuyan, a self taught visual artist based out of Delhi created this series as the third iteration of the idea of ‘home’ and ‘belonging’. It captures the feeling of being lost and disoriented, unable to place oneself in the race that everyone seems to be mindlessly participating in but also it is a reflection of his personal feelings of alienation and the loneliness that comes with being an artist in our capitalistic world.

Modes of Transportation
Delhi-based photographer Mohit Tiwari, through this photo series, captures the face of a traveller in various modes of transportation. The portraits highlight the pathos and melancholia of only one particular traveler but there is an evocation that the feelings of the photographer’s subject echo with the many strangers who travel with him.

Male Body
Shibani Mitra is a photographer who likes to experiment with visuals. In this series, she admires the male body differently, through a female gaze. The beauty of a female body is almost self-explanatory. But Shibani's work consistently gravitates towards the male body. She captures the male form that stands outside of the beauty standards dictating Bollywood and appreciates the femininity present in the male anatomy.
