Raveena Collaborates With Mother Nature Herself For Her Latest Single, 'Morning Prayer'

Nothing is more peaceful than rainfall in the early morning. When the sun rises, but the clouds soften its light, and you can hear the light tapping of raindrops hitting the floor. There are whole websites and YouTube videos with hundreds of millions of views dedicated to this sound, but somehow, they can’t capture the feeling of the real thing.

Raveena’s latest single, 'Morning Prayer', was conceived on that kind of lovely rainy morning. Released on Earth Day, the song builds a soundscape using sounds from the natural environment. Raveena was meditating in the forest, on a trip with her friend and collaborator, Jenn Bann, when the two decided to record the beautiful sounds around them. What started as a voice memo taken out of appreciation was then mixed by Bann with sounds of frogs in Florida and artist Zen-T’s meditative vocalisations to create what ended up being the track for 'Morning Prayer'.

'Morning Prayer' lures you in with a soft drum beat that patters like rain and a flurry of birds chirping above your head. When her Zen-t’s vocals fade in, their sustained notes evoke a meditation bell. And by the time Raveena’s honey-sweet voice comes into play, you already feel like a small weight has been lifted off your shoulders. Just short of two minutes long, ‘Morning Prayer’ is a short and sweet ode to being in touch with yourself, your emotions, and the world around you. The song is simple, but that’s what makes it charming. It captures the calm and charm of a rainy morning better than any of the straight recordings you find online.

This collaboration was, quite literally, made with Nature itself, to the extent that the environment gets its own feature credit on the track. 'Morning Prayer' was made in partnership with Sounds Right, a musical initiative that honours our planet. Sounds Right has personified nature and made it an artist in its own right by creating eco-soundscape playlists and giving it feature credits by collaborating with artists who use environmental sounds in their work. A percentage of the streaming income generated by Nature’s music is then donated to environmental conservation efforts by EarthPercent, an organisation encouraging those in the music industry to take action against the climate crisis.
