Dubai Fashion Week 2026 Sees Absent Findings’ Deadstock Fabrics Debut

Absent Findings — the Dubai-based label founded by Creative Director Shivin Singh, recently made its runway debut at Dubai Fashion Week with the Fall/Winter 2026/27 collection ‘Not What You Think,’ presented by Polimoda, a private fashion school in Florence. The show staged a theatrical programme of elongated silhouettes and textural layering that framed the brand’s core preoccupations: memory, architectural structure, and the psychology of how clothes are worn.

Around 70% of the collection is constructed from high-quality deadstock fabrics sourced globally, with sari piping and surplus fabrics appearing as intentional surface interventions and linings — a deliberate constraint that the label treats as a design principle. The result is an immediate material intelligence: unexpected fabric pairings, reclaimed textiles used as panels, trims and linings, and visible hand-finishes connect atelier craft to circular supply chain

Trained at Polimoda and operating between Florence and Dubai, Shivin brings an Italian tailoring vocabulary to silhouettes that are animated by South Asian references and surrealist fragmentations. He describes Absent Findings as a repository for ‘personal references’ — ephemeral moments of absence that inform how he shapes volume and proportion in his designs. That porous cultural outlook translates into pieces that feel archival and contemporary at once. 

His pieces employ classic Italian construction (meticulous inner structuring, careful seam finishing) alongside artisanal handwork and regional craft techniques sourced from India and the wider South Asian ecosystem. The colour palette is muted and architectural; silhouettes are often elongated or gently distorted so the body reads as a form within a larger spatial idea — a recurring motif in Shivin’s aesthetic. 

Absent Findings has already cultivated a fast-moving press trajectory — from features in outlets profiling emerging international designers to gallery showcases and industry events across Milan and the UAE. The Dubai Fashion Week further binds the brand’s conceptual practice to a market as a small, craft-focused house that privileges circular material flows and cross-cultural craft collaborations, interrogating how limited material availability can sharpen luxury design.
