In the realm of beauty secrets, few have stood the test of time like ghee. Growing up in an Indian household, ghee was a trusted remedy for chapped lips, dry skin, and brittle hair. Its incredible anti-inflammatory and soothing properties have made it a staple in Ayurvedic practices. Now, Ghlee Skincare, an Indian-owned Canadian brand, is revolutionising the beauty industry by harnessing the power of ghee in their exceptional lip care products.

Founded by Varun and Arati Sharma to moisturise their lips during a harsh Canadian winter,  Ghlee Skincare blends traditional Indian Ayurveda with modern scientific advancements. The result is a lip care line that not only embraces the age-old wisdom of ghee but also combines it with other carefully selected ingredients like Olive Squalene, Kahai Oil, Camellia Oil, Mango Seed and Vitamin E for enhanced effectiveness. As ghee is already shelf stable, Ghlee Skincare developed a formula that keeps their ghee-based products shelf-stable for up to 12 months. This ensures that the potency and effectiveness of their lip care products remain intact, even after an extended period.

Ghlee Skincare’s lip balms are created in typical South Asian flavours. Their lip care is made in mint, rose, chai, mango-papaya and unscented original, and each flavour adds a touch of vibrancy to your lip care routine. Besides their lip balms, Ghlee has a lip scrub that combines the exfoliating power of brown sugar with the nourishing properties of ghee. This gentle yet effective scrub works wonders in sloughing away dry, dead skin, leaving your lips smooth and supple.

Varun tells Well + Good, "On the market, there's a lot of fragrance oils that are almost like a chai latte from Starbucks, so that kind of almost manufactured, chemically scent, and I was really against using that. So I took it upon myself to make a blend of essential oils from things that are found commonly in chai. So there's clove bud oil in it, there is cinnamon, there's ginger, and they all come together so when you open it is literally like a cup of hot chai."
