Adidas tracksuits adorned with zardozi embroidery. This is not something that I expected to encounter…ever. But here we are. Diasporic South Asian creative Charlotte Chowdhary’s fashion label Rescha Paris has collaborated with the iconic athletic apparel brand to create its line athleisure detailed with Indian textile crafts. It is all the things that you’d imagine a multicultural, South Asian origin designer shaped by her culture, her lived experience of growing up in France, and her time studying at Central Saint Martins, London would dream up, and more.
Spring/Summer 2025 has been a season of South Asian Heritage craft and design innovations gaining even more accolades on a global scale; getting its time on the runway and the red carpets too. But this collection between Rescha and Adidas redefines athleisure by blending fine French tailoring, and Indian textile traditions with functionality. According to Dazed Middle East feature, “The centrepiece of the collection is a reimagined iteration of Adidas Firebird tracksuit, transformed with deadstock fabrics and detailed zardozi embroidery. A collision of unexpected elements, the collaboration fuses the laid-back pan-global intrigue of sportswear with the lavish splendour of Indian textile traditions. This meeting of worlds speaks to Rescha’s philosophy of intentional design, where every choice — from material to craftsmanship – reckons with the gravity of fidelity and care behind its creation.”
Rescha is a label that masterfully fuses the elegance of French couture with the intricacy of Indian craft. Known for its impeccable tailoring and reinterpretation of traditional techniques, for a contemporary global customer. With the Adidas collaboration, Rescha is furthering its exploration into the realm of activewear, bringing its artisanal approach to a domain driven by innovation and function.
Through the collection, Rescha is reimagining Indian embroidery - a craft often associated with heavy embellishments for evening wear or couture, now reimagined through a utilitarian lens. Think meticulously hand-worked motifs woven into functional designs, offering aesthetic appeal and comfort. The collaboration also emphasises sustainability, incorporating responsibly sourced materials and ethical production practices, a value central to both Rescha and Adidas.
Beyond design, the collection is a cultural dialogue - an exploration of identity through the lens of contemporary fashion that Charlotte Chowdhary has been on, even before the inception of Rescha. For her, this collaboration goes far beyond working with a renowned brand; it’s about storytelling, about bringing the depth of Indian craftsmanship into global sportswear conversations. The Adidas x Rescha collection is a statement that functionality and heritage crafts can coexist, and in doing so, create something truly transformative. With this collaboration, they show how heritage crafts can be an evolving dialogue with the power to shape the future of design in unexpected and exciting ways.
