With the advent of internet, more and more filmmakers are finding their audiences online. Indie films like Gandu by Qaushiq Mukherjee, popularly known as Q, and Sulemani Keeda by Amit Masurkar, have gained critical acclaim, inspiring a lot of people to pursue a career in film-making. But film-making is not just about handling the camera, there are nuances to it that need to be taught by professionals. India has great film-making schools, some of them established by the industry’s pioneers, with quality facilities and a variety of modules to offer.
I. Film and Television Institute of India (Pune)
Established in 1960, Film Television of India (FTII) lies on the premises of the historic Prabhat Studios, and is one of the top film schools in India. II. Whistling Woods International (Mumbai)
Established in 2006 by Subhash Ghai, a renowned director in the Hindi film industry, Whistling Woods is a sprawling campus in Goregaon. It offers a multitude of courses in both design and filmmaking. III. Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of India (Kolkata)
Established in 1995 and named after the legendary Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray, SRFTI is a prestigious film school in Kolkata. The courses offered here encompass workshops conducted by professionals from the film and television industry. IV. Annapurna International School of Film and Media (Hyderabad)

V. National Institute of Film and Fine Arts (Kolkata)
National Institute of Film and Fine Arts, known as NIFFA, was established in 1990 by Dhiresh Ghosh, former head of the Department of Direction at FTII. The courses offered here are all diploma certificate courses and include editing along with cinematography and directing.

VI. L. V. Prasad Film & Television Institute (Chennai)
L. V. Prasad Film & Television Institute was established by the founder of the Prasads Group and one of the filmmaking pioneers of India, L. V. Prasad. One of the greatest contributors to Indian cinema, he received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and also holds the unique position of having acted in the first talkies of three films of different languages - Alam Ara, Bhakta Prahlada & Kalidasa. The institute offers postgraduate diploma courses in cinematography, directing and sound design, as well as a short term course spread over 15 weekends on film and television direction.

VII. Asian Academy of Film & Television (Delhi)
