Homegrown Producer Gandhar Walks Through An Animated Mumbai In His New Video For 'LMK'

With 'lmk', Gandhar lays the groundwork for something bigger — a visual and sonic universe he plans to expand in future projects and performances.

We’re a generation that takes our music everywhere. Whether it’s a walk to the corner store or the hour-long commute across town, there’s almost always a soundtrack playing in our ears. As much as it is a companion as we run our errands, it also shapes how we experience the world. The city becomes a scene, and music sets the tone. This is also the spirit Mumbai-based singer-producer Gandhar taps into with the music video for his latest single, 'lmk'.

The track — a standout from his second EP Doors is smooth and spare, rooted in R\&B and indie-pop, built on that sweet spot between groove and the intimacy of emotional reflections. Befitting, as our inner most thoughts do seem to spill out either in the shower, or while travelling . So while the track pulls us inward, the video turns outward — onto the city.

Set across familiar corners of Mumbai, the lmk video becomes a walking reflection through love, and memory. Directed by Mukhtar, in collaboration with animators Adyot, and Mishaal , the visuals blend live-action footage with bursts of digital animation — graffiti walls come alive, buildings shift and shimmer, everyday spaces transform with interactive movement. This surrealism captures how your surroundings feel when you're deep in your head — heightened, coloured, fleeting. In the music video, Mumbai becomes a co-narrator.

The song itself reflects Gandhar’s approach to music. Gandhar is a self-taught producer, DJ, singer, and multi-instrumentalist. His sound is shaped by a mix of influences, including artists like FKJ and Daft Punk, but it doesn’t settle into any one style. His focus is on building a sound that’s distinctly his — groove-driven but thoughtful and personal but never overly polished. Over the past year, he’s taken that sound across India, performing at festivals like Vh1 Supersonic, Control Alt Delete, Echoes of Earth, and the India Art Fair.

With 'lmk', both track and video, Gandhar lays the groundwork for something bigger — a visual and sonic universe he plans to expand in future projects and performances. For now, though, the track is a special tribute to the city and the memory it becomes a part of through the eyes of a creative shaping a cherished lived experience into audio visual imagination.
