Hamara Bajaj: Devesh Uba's Indian Bikes In Nigeria (In Photos)

Homegrown Staff
"I've been a motorcycling enthusiast almost all my life. In India, I still own a Royal Enfield Bullet which has been my trusted companion on innumerable rides. I really miss all the road trips I used to make with my Enfield. In fact, my longest solo ride was Mumbai to Delhi in 2011, when I moved from Mumbai to Delhi. So I suppose it makes sense that I was so pleasantly surprised to see Indian bikes here in Lagos!"
"The above picture was taken in Ibadan, a city 140 Kms away from Lagos."
"And this one in Osogbo, which is the capital of Osun State in Nigeria."
"Another one from Osogbo. I just loved how the red colour of Boxer compliments the colourful dresses of Nigerians. Most of them are red Bajaj Boxers and they're mostly used as motor-cycle taxis in Lagos, otherwise called ‘Okada'."
"The Okadas are a great way to beat the mad Lagos traffic for many locals here and being cheaper than taxis make Okada further attractive."
"I wouldn't say The Bajaj Boxer has been my kind of bike but it was a big part of my school and college summer vacations! No one I knew owned an Enfield at my maternal grandmother’s village and Bajaj Boxer used to be ‘the bike’ back then in the villages of Rajasthan."
"It's not only Bajaj bikes that usurp the market though, this picture is a good example since it showcases a TVS."
