Take In New Voices & Visions Across Indian Art At The Young Collector's Weekend Global

Drishya

Young Collector's Weekend Global — Cultivate Art's flagship initiative nurturing the next generation of art patrons — makes its Bangalore debut next week, marking the launch of the organisation's newest space on Cunningham Road. Founded in 2017 by art curator and cultural advocate Farah Siddiqui Khan, Cultivate Art champions emerging voices while cultivating meaningful dialogue between artists and collectors across India's growing contemporary art ecosystem.

Award-winning sculptor Harsha Durugadda works with stone and glass to challenge perception and interaction.

Launched in 2020, Young Collector's Weekend Global is an initiative designed to inspire a new generation of collectors to see art not just as a visual pursuit, but as an essential act of cultural investment. The 2025 edition, curated by art writer and critic Girish Shahane, invites young collectors to engage with a selection of contemporary artists and their practice in an intimate preview setting at Cultivate Art's new space in Bangalore on Thursday, 22 May. Collectors will be able to explore the personal narratives and broader cultural frameworks shaping each work at the event — bridging the gap between artists and their audience.

In 2025, Young Collector's Weekend Global presents a dynamic lineup of both emerging and established contemporary artists from across India and abroad. The roster is ambitious and diverse. Highlights include sculptor Harsha Durugadda, whose tactile explorations in stone and glass alter spatial perception; Sareena Khemka, whose installation works reflect on transformation and decay; and Divya Pamnani, whose miniature-inspired paintings dissolve into marine abstraction. Other highlights include the tactile indigo landscapes of Hansika Sharma, sculptures by Richa Arya made from industrial scrap, Rewati Shahani's ceramic reflections on colonial histories, and Kuwait-based printmaker Zarrin Fatima Shamsi's explorations of memory, femininity, and fragility.

Ceramicist and paper sculptor Mansie Shah reflects on silence, form, and transformation in her practice.

"We are especially excited to open Young Collectors Weekend Global in Bangalore, marking the launch of our permanent space in the city," Cultivate Art founder Farah Siddiqui Khan told Homegrown. "At Cultivate Art, we remain committed to championing emerging and mid-career artists, and we look forward to introducing a new generation of talent to Bangalore's astute and discerning collectors."

Young Collector's Weekend Global opens at Abstract Art Gallery — Cultivate Art's new permanent space in Bangalore — at 8, Cunningham Road on 22 May 2025.
