Delhi, Come Watch A Formula Car Race Your Streets With Mika Hakkinen This Weekend

Homegrown Staff

India doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to respecting sports outside of cricket. As a very one track country, often fans of more marginalised sports find that their passion has nowhere to go. Formula 1 has it’s own dedicated fan following in India, but rarely since it rarely sees the representation it deserves, we’ve decided to bring all these fans together under one roof at a mega event in Delhi. This November Homegrown, in collaboration with Johnnie Walker is bringing you a 3-day auto extravaganza where you can become of the worldwide family, #JoinThePact (JTP).

JTP is Johnnie Walker’s 9-year-old initiative dedicated to responsible drinking where they encourage people to commit to the pact ‘Never Drink and Drive’. After travelling the world, it’s finally made it’s way to Indian shores. This unique event will see a range of auto-related events, from supercar rallies, stunt driving courses, paddock-style viewing experiences all designed to be a relatable experience for fanatic as well as novice car enthusiasts.

The event kicks off in Mumbai on November 11th where Mika Hakkinen will be surprising some lucky Ola users by stepping in as driver for the day. Then it’s on to Ambience Mall Delhi on November 12th which has been transformed into every motorsport lovers wonderland.

Select contest winners and tastemakers will get a chance to be driven by Mika in the McLaren Caparo T1. To enter and stand a chance to be one of those lucky winners all you have to do is join the pact and pledge to drink responsibly, then fill in our form below and keep your fingers crossed.

But even if you don’t get a chance to drive with Mika, there are still plenty of things to do, the Cannonall Club in collaboration with the Supercar Club of India will be hosting a supercar and vintage rally open to everyone at the event. If you aren’t quite ready to get behind the wheel yourself there will be a E-sports area where you can battle it out in Gran Turismo or the official F1 game and challenge your friends to the ultimate battle. But people need fuel as much cars so visit the food truck park and sample a range of delicacies that will keep you going all day.

This is going to be a day of fast cars and memorable experiences, something that no motorsports fan will want to miss. And of course, there’s that once in a lifetime opportunity to drive with Mika still up for grabs, just fill in the form below. For India’s car lovers, the chances to get up close and personal with the world of Formula 1 are rare so if you or someone you know is a fan of the sport this is absolutely the place to be.
