After a year-long hiatus, we're bringing back a festival that has consistently captured the heart, minds and soul of the zeitgeist through its many iterations. That's right, this February, the Homegrown Festival is officially back: bigger and better than ever before.
The Homegrown Festival is a first-of-its-kind Indian culture and lifestyle festival that will weave Homegrown and South Asian talent to reimagine contemporary Indian culture and identity. This creative playground is here to feed your adventurous soul. At the intersection of music, art+design, fashion, film, street culture, food & beverages, exhibitions, conversations, workshops, and more, the festival will span over two days at Richardson & Cruddas in Byculla.
Over the last decade, it's been you who have paved the way for the Homegrown movement we now find ourselves at the forefront of. It's you that have shaped the present and future of India's next generation of creatives. With #HGF25 we welcome you to do it again!
Before we dive into the upcoming 2025 edition, we thought we'd look back at previous editions of the Homegrown Festival — from it's fledgling beginnings as 'HGStreet' all the way back in 2018 to the incredible cultural and creative melting pot we created March 2023.
When we started out with the 1st edition of the festival in 2018, it was perhaps one of the hardest challenges to introduce what a ‘sneaker and street culture festival’ was. In our echo chambers we seemingly didn’t realize that being a new format of a festival with no precedent in the country, and like all things that hoped to break away from the norm; the learning curve would be steep.
In 2020, we wanted to return to our home city - Mumbai. It was our love letter to the chaotic dynamo of a city that inspires us and fuels our creativity. However, the world and life at large had other ideas for us all.
Three weeks prior to the festival we pulled the plug owing to COVID-19.
We looked to build and relive that feeling once again with #HGStreet2023.
The Homegrown Festival 2023 was a culmination of everything we've learned, seen, and experienced at the previous editions. We took over the iconic Richardson & Crudas complex and brought the cutting edge of homegrown art, music, design, brands, and experiential pop-ups to the beating heart of the Indian cultural zeitgeist. The third edition of the festival saw everything from engrossing panel discussions featuring changemakers, creators, and cultural pioneers to rip-roaring musical performances from artists like Lojal to fashion shows to even a mini skate park right in the middle of the action.
Beyond all of this, it was incredible to see individuals from across Mumbai's cultural landscape come together to celebrate and underline everything we've achieved as a community. There was plenty to learn from and build on and we're bringing all of that to #HGFestival2025.
