Homegrown Staff

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, The Twits, Esio Trot and more – the Roald Dahl Story Company and Netflix are teaming up to ‘re-imagine’ the beloved authors stories to live in a new animated series. Beloved author Roald Dahl’s stories have been previously inspired several iconic films like Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, The Witches and Matilda.

In their official statement Netflix stated that they will remain true to the spirit and tone of the originals while still getting creative and taking the story beyond the pages of the books. “Our mission, which is purposefully lofty, is for as many children as possible around the world to experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl’s stories,” said Roald Dahl’s widow, Felicity Dahl, “This partnership with Netflix marks a significant move toward making that possible and is an incredibly exciting new chapter for the Roald Dahl Story Company. Roald would, I know, be thrilled.”

Netflix has been pumping money in to original content in the form of TV shows and films, and Roald Dahl is now the latest addition to their roster and we cannot wait to see what they do. Production is set to begin on the first of the Netflix-Dahl animated series in 2019.
