BOBO Calcutta’s Collection Gives Life To The ‘Us In Transit’ Love Story

Meghna Mathew

Circumstances of 2020 that brought about the necessity to isolate ourselves from the world, our loved ones, and our daily lives treated each individual quite differently. Some found their much needed time off to unwind with their multiple attempts at baking banana bread while some others found it extremely challenging to barely keep up with the world and themselves.

‘Us In Transit,’ photographed by Viraj Nayar for modern fashion brand BOBO Calcutta, is a photoseries that narrates the tale of two male lovers around the time of their wedding day in the current context of isolation and distance – far from a typical one.

'Us In Transit'

Devoid of gender limitations and stereotypes, BOBO Calcutta, headed by Ayushman Mitra, concentrates on making art available in a manner in which it can be worn, rather than hung on a wall. The photoseries captures this ideology perfectly by way of allowing the two leading males emote through their habiliment, and accomplish Ayushman’s perspective: “A fashion campaign that explores love in the times of social isolation.”

'Us In Transit'

While the familiar setting of living rooms and bathrooms clarify the isolation of the couple, their passion and chemistry clad in the vibrant clothing allow us to enter their bubble of love. ‘Us In Transit’ portrays a situation that seems novel, but is also one we can relate to, to some extent.
