The pan-India lockdown began on 25 March, and we haven’t seen our cities in their complete glory since. Soon after the pandemic began in India, Mumbai became the COVID-19 hotspot of the country. A city bustling with people and traffic at every nook and corner suddenly turned into an inert zone with not a soul on the streets or on the pavement. The sidewalks are empty, and so are the cafes and the public promenades that used to be buzzing with activity before the pandemic. There is a stifling quiet in the city which has seen thousands of people from across the country and abroad come to its doorstep in search of opportunities.
In order to capture the vibe of the city braced in quietude, Mumbai Live did an aerial tour amidst the lockdown. The video captured by them presents yet unseen, scenic views of Mumbai in a time unlike any other. The drone-shot features some of Mumbai’s key locations such as CST, Churchgate, Crawford Market, Flora-Fountain, Marine Drive, Nariman Point, Wankhede Stadium, Giragaum Chowpatty, Dadar, Shivaji Park, Siddhivinayak temple, Shiv Sena Bhavan, Dadar railway station, Bandra reclamation, and Sea-Link—locations that any other time would be usually bustling with people, but now have suddenly come to be shrouded with a strange silence.
