Adventure, Nature & Food: 7 Offbeat Experiences In Goa

When we speak of that dreaded Goa plan –– we know you know what we’re talking about. The one where it’s planned for months on end, with innumerable plan pitches exchanged, and sometimes (read: often times) results in nothing taking place.

Let’s say, that by some act of God, the plan does go through –– now comes the stage where you decide what you will actually spend your days doing. Beach? Of course. Night clubs? Without a doubt! But what else?

In all honesty, Goa has a lot more to offer than what we see on a typical suggested itinerary. Satiating the travel bug inside us, we have scoured the internet, stalked people’s trips, taken suggestions, and have put together a list of experiences in Goa you must opt for –– experiences that are beside the mainstream, and will give you a unique set of stories to tell once you’re back.

I. All About Alcohol Museum

Where: Main Road, Candolim, Goa 403515

When we first found out about India’s first alcohol museum, we were just as intrigued as you. Covering history, science, storage and more of alcohol in India, this museum makes for a rather interesting visit in Goa. With special focus on Feni, this spot also whips up some delicious cocktails.

Spend an hour or two learning more about Indian alcohol, sip on some oh-so-yummy cocktails and call it a day (before you head to your next destination, of course).

They have an impressive range of small bites and are extremely pocket-friendly. What as such looks homely on the outside also serves food that goes straight to the heart.

III. Hot Air Balloon Ride in Chandor

Where: Assolda, Quepem Taluk, South Goa

Pick one morning to sacrifice on sleep, and head to Chandor to experience a magical journey through the skies of Goa in a hot air balloon. At an elevation of around 2000 feet, soak in the morning sun and the breathtaking views that surround you. Each ride lasts approximately one hour and provides tremendous views of the vast greens as well as the sandy beaches with adjoining lengths of the sea.

All safety protocols are ensured by the professional pilots and the ground crew. Proving to be a one-of-a-kind experience, this hot air balloon ride is surely on our must-do list.
