3 Goa-Based Roasteries Furthering The Homegrown Coffee Movement

Meghna Mathew

The rising popularity of homegrown coffee is heartwarming. Regional estates managed by local farmers give us some of the best coffee this country has seen, all while homegrown brands strive to give every individual involved a fair wage and equitable growth. Creating an ecosystem of prosperity remains one of the top priorities.

Goa, too, is seeing a similar revolution. Of course, the bars and pubs (and cheap alcohol) remain at Goa tourism’s forefront, but coffee and cafes are slowly gaining ground. Goa-based roasteries are a major part of this movement, and we’re taking a look at just a few of them today.

I. G-Shot Coffee Roastery

With a ‘meditative approach to speciality coffee’, G-Shot aims to connect people with each other through food, coffee and meditation. It is a conscious approach toward clean coffee and food and nearly everything is made from scratch. The vision stems from a community-living way of life and sharing the love.

Their evident joy from their Single Origin in-house roasted coffee is infectious!

II. Sussegado Coffee (Devi Coffee)

A premium coffee roaster in Goa, Sussegado makes their speciality roasted coffee under the brand ‘Devi Coffee’. The roastery is Goa-based but the Single Origin coffee is shipped pan-India and roasted in small batches in European drum roasters.

Sussegado’s love for their mission to help people start their day, accompany them in their small breaks, and bring about a community of sharing is one we can certainly back.

III. HMBL Coffee House

HMBL gives Goan local restaurant Morjelo their speciality coffee. The Goa-based roastery is the source of some coffee favourites that include cold brews, macchiatos, and a special cinnamon mocha. This Indian speciality coffee house takes its coffee seriously, and we are all for it.

With on-point branding of their young and future-forward roastery, HMBL is certainly one to watch out for.
