Do you remember the cartoons we spent hours watching after school and the simple joy it brought us – keeping us distracted and giving us a sense of safety, lost in the little world of animated beings? With everything the world has seen and been through in the past few months, such a cartoon escape sounds just about perfect.
The three-piece punk rock band from Mumbai, The Lightyears Explode’s new track ‘Heart Break Kid’ and its video are a pretty close match to this escape. A catchy tune accompanied by an animated video that narrates its own unique tale is all we could ask for!
Having created a monster movie set in a Goan village, animator Deepti elaborates about the video further, “The monsters live in human disguise; mysterious monoliths rise in the lake and unleash these dark forces, and basically, everybody dies. The only one who can try to stand up to these monsters is the Heart Break Kid.” She worked alongside animator Saket to complete this marvel.
