Gulbahaar Kaur

"There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about."

- Margaret J Wheatley

India’s first community makerspace focussed on fostering innovation through purpose based learning, ‘Maker’s Asylum’ has aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This programme offers a systematic journey to transform a person's ideas and help them channel their inner change-maker.

SDG School is a flagship program that has been happening over the past 7 years all over the world in various formats. This year the primary focus is for the makers to learn about global socio-economic challenges and find unique ways to solve grassroot issues using agile techniques, tools and multidisciplinary teams.

Experts in domains such as sustainability, circular economy, technology and innovation will help one navigate and build futuristic ideas. Further the platform will act as a ‘skill bazaar’, as it is designed to provide insights into new skills such as design thinking, frugal innovation , rapid prototyping, storytelling and more.

The 10 day virtual SDG school program has been put together in association with Unesco, UNDP & The Better India. On completion, the 10 best teams will then stand a chance to accelerate their projects at the Maker’s Asylum Residency program and present at the The Better India Summit 2023 in Goa, India. The program is ideal for 18-35 yr olds however open for anyone to apply.
