This generation out of all knows the value of personalising one's space the most. We leave our homes for studies and work and live in rented spaces which now due to the economy feels will be our ultimate lifestyle. Our dreams in general are also different from those of our parents; we want to live in different cities and travel the world. In a nomadic lifestyle like such the only thing that helps us create a sense of home and comfort are our spaces that are coloured in our personalities.

And the people who understand this best are interior designers who mould utility and aesthetics into innovative designs that create the most impactful spaces, be it personal or social. We have curated a list of some homegrown interior designers that you can draw inspiration from in creating your own home.

Jannat Vasi

Jannat Vasi is a Mumbai-based interior architect who works with interior space planning, conceptualizing, design developments and execution. She incorporates her knowledge of the latest technologies and current trends in her designs. Her signature style is a modern aesthetic approach with a balance of bold palette, embossed texture and unique surface treatments.

Aamir & Hameeda

Aamir and Hameeda is a Hyderabad-based couple who heads their design firm, AANDH, working with interior design of residences, corporate offices, retail stores and hospitality spaces. Their style is minimalistic and urban chic created by reinterpreting salvaged recyclable material with the ethos of modern-traditionalism.

Ajay Shah

Ajay Shah is a NID graduate who founded the design brand, Rubberband and his Mumbai-based design studio. Apart from their bold interior designs his studio also also offers furniture and lifestyle products, graphic identities, signage design, environmental design. Ajay is a great believer in Dieter Rams's design principle, “Good design is as little design as possible.”

Shabnam Gupta 

Shabnam Gupta is one of the most awarded interior designers in India. She is known for her traditional aesthetics of an earthy palette with a few bursts of colour and a contemporary rustic edge. She founded her own studio called The Orange Lane which offers its vibrant desi designs for living and commercial spaces.
