DMC World DJ Championships are returning to India after 12 years, with the 2026 national finals taking place at antiSOCIAL Mumbai on September 6. The competition will feature the DMC Classic Battle and DMC Scratch Battle, with DJs competing on technical ability, creativity and turntablism for a chance to represent India at the DMC World Finals in London. The event will also bring international judges and turntablists DJ Fummy, Prime Cuts and Lobito Brigante to Mumbai for showcases, workshops and an afterparty alongside performances, equipment experiences and prizes
After a 12-year break, the DMC World DJ Championships are coming back to India, with the 2026 national finals taking over antiSOCIAL Mumbai on Sunday, 6 September. It is the Indian leg of the world’s longest-running DJ competition, and the winner gets to take the decks to London later this year for the DMC World Finals.
The DMC World DJ Championships have been putting turntable skills to the test since 1985. Over the last four decades, the competition has expanded into more than 30 countries, seen more than 20,000 DJs compete and helped create turntable heavyweights including A-Trak, Cash Money, Craze, DJ Kentaro, Mix Master Mike and Roc Raida.
The India finals will feature two categories: the DMC Classic Battle, the original format where DJs are judged on technical ability, creativity, musicality and performance, and the DMC Scratch Battle, which puts scratching front and centre. Leading the judging panel is a fairly serious collection of turntable masters. Japan’s DJ Fummy arrives as the reigning 2025 DMC World DJ Champion, while the UK’s Prime Cuts brings decades of battle experience. A member of the legendary Scratch Perverts, he has won multiple DMC and ITF titles and is known for pushing scratching into increasingly elaborate territory.
Joining them as a DMC Middle East judge is Dubai-based Lobito Brigante who has spent more than two decades DJing, starting out on vinyl in London before moving to Dubai, where he became known for eclectic vinyl sets, B-boy events and his own bar, Electric Pawn Shop, which famously has a 'no requests' policy.
The three guests will also perform showcase sets, run educational workshops and headline the official afterparty. Locally, DJ Uri, DMC India’s Branch Manager and Head, is leading the revival alongside DJ/turntablists The Spindoctor, DJ Mocity and DJ Kan-i. The aim is to give India’s emerging and established turntablists a proper route into the international competition circuit.
There is plenty happening outside the battles too: workshops with VHE and Rane, a Rane and Denon DJ product experience zone, live performances, networking for DJs and music-industry professionals, and an afterparty built around global turntablism culture. Visionhire Entertainment is the official main prize sponsor, with Rane, Denon DJ and Phase equipment up for grabs. First place takes home a Rane One MK2 in the Classic category and a Denon DJ Prime Go in Scratch; second and third place come with Phase, Ortofon, Magma and DjayPRO prizes.
Presented by Simba Beer and Azadi Records, with VHE as the official equipment partner and collaborations with Ortofon, Algoriddim and Magma Bags, DMC India 2026 is essentially a full day devoted to people who take the turntable very seriously. After 12 years away, it is a fairly good time for the decks to get their moment back.
