Ravivar Racing Club is a community-driven motorsport club founded by Harsh Walawalkar and Yaquta Bootwala that makes karting more accessible through beginner-friendly track days, Formula 1 watch parties, night races, and community events. Expanding from Mumbai to cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, and Pune, the club also promotes careers in motorsport through collaborations with engineering colleges and Student Formula teams, introducing more people to the sport both on and off the track.
For most people in India, motorsport still feels like a sport you watch from the sidelines. It can seem expensive, technical and difficult to enter if you don't already know someone in the scene. Ravivar Racing Club (RRC) is trying to change that by turning karting into a community activity where first-timers, hobbyists and experienced racers can all share the same track.
Founded by Harsh Walawalkar and Yaquta Bootwala, RRC wanted more people to go karting with. The club started as a small gathering and has quickly grown into one of India's fastest-growing motorsport communities, bringing together hundreds of members across Mumbai while expanding into cities including Delhi, Bangalore and Pune. The founders describe accessibility and community as the ideas that continue to shape every event they organise.
The club's biggest draw is its social karting track days. Every session is designed to welcome complete beginners alongside regular racers, so participants don't need any prior experience or technical knowledge before getting behind the wheel. Experienced drivers often help newcomers through their first laps, creating an atmosphere where people can learn from each other while enjoying the sport. Recent events have attracted participants ranging from teenagers to people in their sixties, showing how broad the community has become.
RRC's calendar goes well beyond karting sessions. The community regularly hosts Formula 1 race screenings, late-night karting events, watch parties and collaborations with motorsport venues and organisers. Recent events have included an F1 screening followed by night karting, community celebrations around Grand Prix weekends, a dedicated Women's Wing track day that welcomed over 100 women into the community, and partnerships with Formula Karting for experiences such as Drift & Drunch in Pune. These events give members plenty of reasons to keep coming back, whether they want to race, meet fellow fans or simply spend time around people who enjoy motorsport.
The club is also expanding conversations around motorsport itself. Through visits to engineering colleges, interactions with Student Formula teams and content about careers across the industry, RRC highlights the engineers, mechanics, strategists, designers, marshals and creators who keep the sport running behind the scenes. The aim is to introduce more people to the many ways they can become part of motorsport, whether they want to drive or build a career around it.
As motorsport continues to find a larger audience in India, Ravivar Racing Club is building a space where the sport feels social, approachable and easy to join. One Sunday at a time, it is bringing new people onto the track and growing a community that is as interested in meeting fellow enthusiasts as it is in chasing faster lap times.
