Malie’s Debut Jewellery Collection Embraces Femininity & Elegance Through Pearls

Pearls are the most timeless pieces of jewellery to exist. Originally seen as a symbol of wealth and stature, they are still considered a classic gem; the only one of its kind to be found under the sea as opposed to the earth.  They require no special cutting or polishing to maximize their beauty, which has been treasured since ancient times. Pearls have always been associated with the moon, femininity and elegance.

Malie, a womenswear brand combining Indian and Scandinavian cultures have recreated the same magic through their first jewellery collection, Sacred Pearls consisting of 5 styles — two pairs of earrings, a bracelet, an anklet and a necklace. Each piece is made from 18k gold plated silver and natural baroque pearls, paired with semi-precious gemstones, such as rose quartz, aquamarine and carnelian. The baroque pearls make each piece unique, as not two pearls arriving from nature are alike.

The visual storyline for Sacred Pearls is woven around the element of water where pearls are naturally discovered. It was created and photographed by Imdad Barbhuyan, an Indian photographer who is known for creating atmospheric and intimate scenes by bringing out the poetry in the ordinary and mundane.

The elements of the stones are a subtle nod to the symbolic qualities of the gemstones presented in the jewellery. These natural gemstones are believed to hold healing powers. Rose quartz found in the Rosalia anklet is the stone of unconditional love. Aquamarines found in the Raindrop bracelet are the stone for inviting calm into your life. Carnelian found in the Horizon hoops encourages empowerment and confidence. And turquoise seen in the Sky earrings removes negative energies. Sacred Pearls is a graceful collection of jewellery presenting the quiet beauty of these lustrous gems.
