Homegrown Staff

Creating history, Delhi Crime becomes India’s first web series to bag an International Emmy Award. Directed by Richie Mehta, the Netflix India original stars Rasika Dugal, Shefali Shah, Adil Hussain, and Yashaswini Dayama, amongst others.

Delhi Crime won the award for the Best Drama Series in the 48th International Emmy, beating British series Criminal: UK, Germany’s Charité, and Argentina’s El Jardín de Bronce (The Bronze Garden) to it.

The seven-part series is a fictional dramatisation of the investigations that followed the 2012 Gang Rape Case with Shefali Shah playing the role of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi. Released in 2019, the web series garnered acclaim for its sensitised portrayal of the aftermath of the Nirbhaya Case.

“Delhi Crime #DelhiCrime wins the Emmy @iemmys International Awards for Best Drama. Congratulations @RichieMehta unmatchable @ShefaliShah dearest @rajeshtailang and whole team Big Big Congratulations.” tweeted Adil Hussain, who plays the role of a police commissioner on the show.
